Kursk State Medical University: Going Global

Given the historically dynamic Indo-Russian relations, there are plenty of medical colleges in Russia for Indian students that are accredited by the WHO as well as the medical councils of various countries (including the NMC/MCI of India), FAIMER, ECFMG, etc. Out of these is the Kursk State Medical University.

This post, however, specifically focuses on the steps taken by this university to go truly international; to make its presence felt globally and develop their standards according to what's accepted worldwide.

Academic Exchange

To further integrate the Kursk State Medical University into the international scientific fold, students of this university are sent to other higher medical education institutions outside Russia. This is what’s called an Academic Mobility program.

By mixing with and incorporating medical norms and practices of other countries, the university attempts to improve the quality of its academics, pedagogy, and scientific research.

Over the years, the university has made Academic Exchange mobility agreements with the IFSMA (National Union of Medical Students) as well as universities from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Czech Republic, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, China, Bosnia, Serbia, and various others.

International Research

The main reasons for carrying these projects is primarily to participate in international organizations as well as academic mobility of the students and staff. These also help in the recognition and accreditation of their programs worldwide and in improving the global image of the university.

Therefore, the Kursk State Medical University undertakes partners and cooperates with several scientific and medical universities for research purposes, across Asia, Europe, and Africa. There are more than 15 departments across several countries with whom this university cooperates for scientific research including those in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pland, Belarus, and Austria among others.

When it comes to medical colleges in Russia for Indian students, it’s safe to go for this university as is evident from the above data. Students enrolling into the Kursk State Medical University won’t just be guaranteed top-notch education but also opportunities to widen the scope of their knowledge when it comes to developing the requisite medical skills as well as be aware of the important medical norms and practices.
